SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

MAY 30, MONDAY
BUILDING A CIRCULAR ORGANIZATION

Can circularity and profitability coexist? Discover and learn from organizations that are practicing circularity in both design and business models.

The circular business model puts design to the fore whether that be in products or systems. With the ongoing threat to climate change and the rise of eco-conscious consumers, it has been a challenge for businesses and organizations to bridge the circularity gap whilst attaining economic growth and human development. Circularity demands a new way of thinking and while it confronts us with uncomfortable questions, it also urges for new solutions. Despite these challenges, companies such as Relevé, Valdes Designs, and BAYO have been committed in following the circular economy pathway — redesigning and rethinking value chains. This session delves into the first steps of building a circular business model and it also transitions to discussing the impact of fashion in changing and shaping the lives of people, most especially on women.

Panel: Jessie Jiang of Basically Borrowed, Bea Valdes and Marga Valdes of Valdes Designs, Anna Lagon of BAYO, and Morgane Parizot of Redress. Moderated by Pauline Suaco-Juan. Get to know more about our speakers here!

MAY 31, TUESDAY
MATERIALITY AND SUPPLY CHAIN

The most fundamental way to change how supply chains can drive more circularity is to rethink how we look at waste — from easily discarded pieces with short product life cycles to reusable materials that can be fed back into the system. In the fashion industry, global supply chains have been scrutinized for the lack of transparency and accountability, large carbon footprint, exploitation of resources, and inhumane working conditions. This session aims to provide an understanding on how innovation and circularity can be applied to supply chains. It tackles topics on how to localize circularity concepts, where to source materials, and how to sustain and future-proof production systems.

Panel: Chuck Lazaro of AsiaTex, Mike Claparols of Philippine Fashion Coalition, Director Celia Elumba of Philippine Textile Research Institute, and Lorenza Wong of Lorenza Wong Consulting. Raia Gomez of Relevé. Moderated by Dr. Kathleen Aviso. Get to know more about our speakers here!

JUNE 1, WEDNESDAY
COMMUNICATING TRANSPARENCY

How we communicate in fashion is changing; there is a demand for transparency and authenticity. With the rise of conscious consumerism especially among the younger generations, there is a high demand for fashion brands to legally provide information on the social impacts of their business. The concept of ‘radical transparency’ encourages a new level of authenticity at the mass market level which aims to disclose data about suppliers and supply chain policies. While transparency alone is not the solution, this helps consumers understand what is happening behind the brand and its products; and further leads to creating better decisions.

What does this mean for us and how can we create a space of dialogue in our own brands? Learn more about how to perfectly communicate what it means to be circular in a world of advanced and tech-savvy citizens.

Panel: Pam Quiñones of Vestido, Ping Manongdo of Eco-Business, Prince Jimdel Ventura of Fashion Revolution Philippines, Marvin Conanan of Purveyr. Moderated by Marga Valdes. Get to know more about our speakers here!
